ABOUT THE CAUSE

Cultural Survival

Cultural Survival supports a movement of empowered Indigenous Peoples organizing their communities to engage the international processes, national policies and human rights bodies to respect, protect, and fulfill their rights.

When you order a beer in Konso, Ethiopia, this is what you get. A delicious, frothy, wholesome home brewed sorghum beer in a homegrown mug. A true taste of the landscape. Konso is one of those rare parts of the planet where the people thrive fully from the land and local resources, taking what the land has to offer and holding it sacred in return. The Konso are also one of the few cultures in Sub-Saharan Africa that practice terraced agriculture. What’s more, they offer one of the only beer-drinking experiences that involves a little chewing to get it down.
